Nevermind that his strongest statements on this issue came in the last week of his term when he obviously had no intention of addressing it. Don’t worry about the fact that his hubris robbed us of the opportunity to have an open primary. Forget that his justice department decided to run out the clock on Trump’s legal cases instead of holding him accountable in any way. Just ignore the fact that he spared his friends and family from having to face the consequences of a Trump presidency by pardoning all of them. He was working so hard for us the whole time.

You guys are all acting like these things are pointless. They do have minute environmental benefits but their real use is to trick me into believing things will be OK. Otherwise I would lose my mind over how ridiculously suicidal our collective behavior is. That is a very valuable service they provide to me personally. I enjoy what little of my sanity remains to me.

The people defending Biden know this is bullshit. They just want to believe this is a sign that Democrats are finally going to stop complaining about decorum and play hardball. It isn’t, and they won’t, but at least Joe gets to protect his kid I guess. Too bad Joe couldn’t find the will to force Garland to do his job and prosecute Trump instead.

Fascism taking hold depends on a significant portion of people ignoring the threat it poses in its infancy. Saying Trump won’t do what he’s clearly trying to do, and even going so far as to say it might turn out to be a good thing, are both extremely bad ideas. Many Germans did not believe Hitler was the threat he turned out to be and as a consequence they did not react to his early actions as they would have had they known what was to come. Trump attempting to purge military leadership and install loyalists is an obvious example of an event that will come to be seen as a pivotal moment in history if we continue down this path we’re on.

Trump won’t be allowed to destroy the military. He will weaken it, though, and that can only be a good thing.

I don’t think anything of the sort. I found that I didn’t enjoy my time on the platform so I don’t use it anymore. That simple evaluation had more to do with my decision to stop using it than any moral issues I could cite, of which there are many.

Photography is capturing something real in the physical world. Even if the action can be boiled down to “push a button” the photographer needs to have at least some presence where the real event is taking place.

AI art is not a depiction of a real event and requires no physical presence. It’s also not being brought to life by the person taking credit for it. That’s not to say AI generated images can’t be cool or useful but I don’t think they are art. If your definition of art is loose enough to apply to AI generated images then the I think the artist credit should belong to the AI itself or the team that wrote the software, not the person typing in prompts.

What does that even mean? Clearly you and I remember it at minimum. What would you expect to be done differently?
