Thank you for taking the time to write that out for me. Between this and absGeekNZ’s reply to another person, I feel I really learned a lot.

As someone who basically knows nothing about this but what is in the article, the Maori sound like they have the right idea to me.

The Maori version of the original treaty seems very generous and would make sense to most people how it was written. How anyone would believe the British version was legitimate unless it was signed under coercion or misrepresentation makes zero sense.

Despite the bill being highly likely to fail, many believe that just by allowing the bill to be tabled in Parliament, the coalition government has ignited dangerous social division.

That they are protesting even though the new bill is unlikely to pass seems very smart, given what is going on in other parts of the world and how manipulation by governments works in history. By entertaining it as any form of reasonable proposal, it gives it credence, no matter how small, and each time it is suggested, it will be normalized a bit more, and they will pick up another supporter here and there until they can pass it.

I still think this is a near perfect movie. I will still watch it every now and then, and I feel it holds up perfectly. The soundtrack is 100% dated, but I think the songs are awesome and I listen to them occasionally too.

I’m really questioning that myself. I’ve been to all the stores I posted and they’ve always been fine.

I just looked up a Tesco and a Carrefour from Europe and they look about the same as the US stores, so I’m wondering where OP lives where box stores are beautiful.

I love Aldi and it’s where I get 75% or so of my groceries. I enjoy cooking, so it’s easy to get basic quality ingredients there, and I’ll grab the occasional prepared food as a treat, especially during German week!

They’ve expanded their offerings and still manage a good price. We’ve gotten there ground bison and lamb and dinner frozen duck breasts that have all been great. I like their flake style imitation crab. They have some good seasonal offerings.

Their not having any name brands seems to help them beat the price collusion the other stores have. Giant has bought out most of the stores near me, which doesn’t help, but I buy little enough there I don’t complain much about it.

You had me zooming in looking for something. Like others have said, this is the “passing the savings along to you” look.

Target is a little more lively with an actual ceiling and brighter color scheme, but it’s really the same thing with a little extra polish.

This is a Giant Supermarket. Same overall feel as the Walmart, but slightly less warehouse like to make things look more appetizing.

Aldi has done a pretty good job of remodeling. It’s a value brand store where just about everything is store label, and it used to look rougher than Walmart. Now it’s become almost trendy and chic, but prices are still good. Makes the others really look like penny pinchers.

A large part of it is probably stores are so big making it nice would be “cost prohibitive” since they’d require more cleaning and maintenance.

He was also Galvatron in the Transformers movie.

I’ve tried most of the apps, and I used to think Liftoff was “inspired by” Boost, with the name and rocket and all, plus it was the only one that vaguely felt like Boost to me.

Same here. I’ve probably done over a dozen stays now. I just always book with a Super Host or whatever they call them, check their rules and fees over a few times, and most places I stay, the owner lives there on the same property.

I like it because I figure people won’t ignore things like bedbugs in their own full time living space, I like getting to know them and their tips for what to check out and where to eat. I like meeting their pets! And it makes it feel like you’re staying somewhere in particular, not in a generic space that could be anywhere in the world, it is one unique spot that is nowhere else.

I do agree with the problems it can cause in communities. My neighborhood isn’t Airbnb homes, but due to many foreclosures, we do have a lot more rentals and it does have a different vibe, so I can empathize with that. But I have only stayed at one that the host didn’t live on site. That is in a middle of nowhere place in a very rural area I’ve been visiting by entire life though, and most of the already not great hotels in the area have closed.

I wouldn’t not ever stay in a hotel, but I try to go to unique places and I feel the experience I seek out on Airbnb adds to my traveling.
