It does matter in terms of ease of use. Some have apps, some don’t. A non-linux-native might have difficulties with the latter.

I would go this route as well. As a developer this sounds easy enough. It you don’t get vertical sequences of images, but instead a grid of images, then I would apply traditional image stitching techniques. There are tons of libraries for that on github.

Welche Aufgaben muss die KI denn überhaupt lösen:

• Speech to Text
• Text to Sign language oder beides auf einmal. Allerdings bezweifle ich, dass es dafür gute Modelle gibt.

Klar, für ersteres muss eine gute KI genommen werden. Open Source kenne ich da nichts gutes. Und nein, KALI ist nicht gut, es ist scheiße im Vergleich zum Stand der Technik. OpenAI Whisper finde ich extrem gut, allerdings datenschutztechnisch schlecht. Wenn die da etwas gutes finden, was auch mit Deutsch funktioniert, dann… Aber ja, daran wird es haken.

Zweiteres, Text to Handsprache, da sehe ich überhaupt kein Problem. Das können, ich kenne mich mit Handsprache nicht sonderlich gut aus, Bilder seien, die aneinander gereiht sind und zwischen denen interpoliert wird.

Da wird es bestimmt einige witzige Vergebärdensprecher geben 😄 Ich finde das allerdings nicht so dramatisch, wenn es meistens gut funktioniert und wir somit alle wichtigen (oder mehr) Sendungen übersetzen.

I like the pyproject.yaml, but checking dependencies with poetry takes 5 to 10 minutes for my projects.

Tbh, I’m always ending up having issues using poetry and conda. I prefer using penv and pip.

Exhausting is a good description. I don’t mind people seeing me from time to time when i feel like it. But man I am so much more tired when having the camera on after and during a meeting.
