X11 runs the whole desktop on the lowest refresh rate and Wayland can run each monitor at a different refresh rate

The latency is insanely low on Pipewire, which is important for rythm games like osu!, that’s why I originally switched to it. It’s also really cool how it’s compatible with all other audio backends as well.

Another thing is that Germany’s parliament is made up of all parties that got over 5% of votes and they get seats based on the percentage of votes they got. That means that you also have parties like the CDU/CSU and AFD there who do everything they can to block the legalization and that also contributes to making it more restricted and complicated.

I mean, we do still have a lot of politicians saying that it’s super dangerous. Söder is a good example, always saying how bad it is and that he doesn’t want drugs for Germany. He also drinks beer all the time btw. His party (CDU/CSU), who have been in power for the last 16 (or something) years before the current government also said the first thing they’re going to do when they’re back in power is make it illegal again.

I hope GTK and GNOME (or is GTK part of GNOME?) adopt this, I didn’t even know just how bad the inefficiency with todays cursors is. Having a single svg for each cursor and rendering it server-side makes so much more sense.

Did someone already open an issue for this?

I think this makes sense. I still need X11 for VR because GNOME still doesn’t have display leasing on Wayland but once that gets implemented I won’t be using X11 anymore. I think most people don’t need X11 anymore either. For people like me who still need it for specific things, it can just be installed again manually.

Performance isn’t the only issue. This system would also not let you play offline, without being logged in and you couldn’t have mutliple saves or replay the game.

You could install it without a desktop and then manually install only the packages for Plasma with Wayland but idk if that’a really worth the effort

YouTube Vanced was DMCA’d because they distributed the whole apk, which is why Revanced exists and only applies patches to a YouTube apk you have to get yourself

It’s just in case you have issues with the headset not getting detected, the cable can become a little loose and you might need to press it into where it connects to the headset

SteamVR has weird issues like that sometimes but restarting it or logging out and back in has always fixed it for me (aside from that one time I had to replace the headset cable)

I use a Valve Index on GNOME as well, so here’s a few things:

• VR doesn’t work yet on GNOME Wayland, you need to select GNOME on Xorg when logging in
• Sometimes the LEDs are red and the headset doesn’t get detected, just unplug the cable and plug it back in
• You might also need to press on the cable where it connects on the headset sometimes, it can become a little loose
• Use CoreCTRL to manually set the GPU performance profile to high, it doesn’t do that automatically for some reason and there’s a huge performance difference
• If you have the issue that moving your head makes it look like the image is jumping back and forth, go into the per-application video settings of the game from SteamVRs menu and turn on Legacy reprojection
  • This only happens when I have very low FPS, the CoreCTRL thing fixed it for me without having to use this option
• There’s an older SteamVR version for Linux you can select as a beta option for SteamVR in Steam but I’d actually not recommend using it, it only works when games use Proton 5 and there are newer games that don’t work with a Proton verison that old. A lot of the issues the regular SteamVR version had are fixed now and it works pretty well for me.

You should look into Krita. Not a replacement for Photoshop but I find it more intuitive than GIMP, at least.

Joined the 5€ tier, hope it’s at least a little help. I was also using the EA builds for free for quite a while, so it’s good to actually pay for it.
