Yeah the number if immigrants is very little even by our standards, but our right wing government is doing all it can to stoke fears of a Russian hybrid operation, just so that they get an excuse to shut down the border. Ironically, that’s exactly what Russia wants them to do because such disregard for human rights naturally inflames internal political tensions here.
There would be significantly less drama if we just took them in with due processing, but now that the racist nationalists party is in government with a spineless sack of shit as the PM, they’re not going to do that.
I agree that most of the imperial system sucks, but knots (and by extention nautical miles) have a good reason for being used everywhere when navigating long distances around the globe because both are based on the way coordinates work.
I think most things going through the temple are fatal.
The only OECD country that can beat the US in killings by law enforcement per capita is Colombia with 33.1 and 34.1 killings per 10 million people a year respectively (according to wikipedia). I think the person you replied to were right in saying that “So if I’m interacting with law enforcement but in an industrialized nation that is not the US, I’m likely better off by far”. Granted, Mexico isn’t much better off either, but beyond that the numbers start to go down.
Police brutality is definitely not a uniquely US thing, but it is a lot more prevalent there than in comparable countries.
I see what you mean, but the freezing point of water is arguably the most critical temperature when it comes to weather. Celsius is easy in this regard.
+3°C? => Precipitation will almost certainly be liquid.
-3°C? => Precipitation will be mostly solid and any possible rain or drizzle will be supercooled, forming a sheet of ice on whatever it lands on. Look out for slippery roads!
Well, at least most of those have an original suffix to give them identity.
Most likely yes since there’s no interceptor missiles visible, but the streaks of light are still just glare from a dirty lens. The first two projectiles were killed by two separate lasers because it takes a bit for a laser to heat its target up.
Could well be Iron beam (especially since we see no interceptor missiles around), but there’s two of them here because one laser can’t take out two targets at the same time, and the streaks of light are not from the lasers.
This is just somebody’s grimy phone camera seeing streaks of light around the bright flashes. You get these when you wipe your lens carelessly with linear movements. It’s a funny coincidence that the two flashes happen to allign in the direction of these streaks.
You can see the same effect in the bottom left corner of the screen when the view briefly pans left, around what might be an off screen streetlight.
Cumulus humilis, the telltale sign of a nice and warm summers day. Why would anyone be sick of that?
I know that this is a joke, but an actual nihilist would just say “ok then”
If they get down on their knees, cry and wet themselves, they are not a nihilist.
A problem of definitions. The word ‘liberal’ has a whole bunch of meanings depending on who you ask. Someone farther on the left usually uses the term to describe people who claim to support freedoms and rights for everyone, but only as long as they themselves don’t have to sacrifice a thing. People who go out to riot and get arrested for it definitely fall outside of that group.
Liberals don’t know how to organize precisely because the Democratic party dominates the elections. No need to organize when the organization already exists. All they need to do is to “vote blue no matter who”.
A per capita map would also be nice.
