I can’t stand /r/piracy anymore. it has devolved into… what’s a torrent? is this site ok? what country doesn’t care about piracy? its clear a lot of the older pirates have left. but I can’t find them. not sire how big this community is but the news post I see is 4 days old…
try ordering by new, the active ordering will show old threads if people are still commenting on them
and that’s a good thing, on reddit you kind of can’t keep a conversation as the threads die too fast
I compared all the “algorithms” a little and think sorting by hot is the way to go. You should see some more posts than one every four days lol.
The most optimal sorting is not available. There should be an “all” sorting so that we can see from the newest to the oldest.
But there is none.
Is that not sorting by new?

According to Hook (1991) his full name is Captain James Hook, so I always assumed that was just his surname and he decided to use a hood on the stump because of that. He also had several different attachments for his stump, which was quite innovative.

Ah yes, gatekeeping people who are new and asking for help.
A great way to build a thriving community that will be doing great 10 years from now, by alienating all the new people who are starting to take an interest and ask for some advice.
stop acting like google and a fully fleshed out sidebar and wiki don’t exist.
New people will be unsure, even with the resources. Gatekeeping this could be avoided by simply linking to the correct part in the Sidebar/Megathread.

What are you expecting to be posted? Are you expecting links to warez, torrents, cracks, etc?

ok something is going on, as I can see you’re comments but can’t see them. how can I tell if my instance is federated with you. currently I have 3 comments and I can only see one when checking the post. this happened quite a lot with other posts I see a big number of comments then when checking I see just a few actual comments
Well, the original post is less than 30 minutes old, you’ve had a few comments and votes. You’ve also been on Lemmy for at least 2 months, so you should already be aware that federation between countless servers can take a few minutes. Just chill, you’re cool 😎
To me what’s seen on the screenshot means that the comments have been kind-of synchronized but actually not, and it has bugged away or the comments somehow got filtered out.

Could it be that the number of comments that you can actually see doesn’t match the counter because some were deleted?I find that comment visibility improves when you visit the post from a different community
What are your language settings set to in your Lemmy profile? I know if you deselect
Undetermined, it will cause this.That also being said, most of the comments here are tagged as English, and the comment in your screenshot doesn’t seem like it was tagged as such - weird question, but do you by chance have English deselected?
When I view this post from the feddit.uk instance, I can see all the comments so I don’t think it’s a sync issue, unless they’re all appearing for you now.
How do you even select or deselect languages, the language selector in the settings doesn’t seem to work.
If this is an issue you experience with pirate subs mostly, you might wanna consider making an account on the dbzer0 instance.

this is what I’m seeing. have tried logging on by internet too same thing. I can see your comments coming in my notifications but when i go to view them it says 123456 user not found. I may create a new account over with you guys. I do see the full post and comments when on dbzer0.
I think this is a Lemmy issue as a whole, I too get this on mobile, but not on desktop
I’ve noticed the same issue on many posts. I am using the app, liftoff. If I just refresh the page all the missing comments load. I don’t know if this works on other apps or in your browser, but it works for me.
