Why do we keep using something as bad as matrix?
No native proxy support (because it depends mostly on UDP and WebRTC), bloated clients (for the major part) and not truly decentralized (most users just registered on matrix.org’s servers and seem to not even know about other instances or self-hosting).
XMPP has been out for years and supports different type of E2EE, from the widely known PGP, to OTR and the newest and most used OMEMO.
No web registration is required, you can do all in-client behind a comfy proxy (like Tor) :).
Recommended clients:
- Desktop: Gajim, Profanity (CLI only) [please don’t use MacOS or Windows]
- Mobile: Monocles [Graphene or any other privacy rom is highly suggested]
Proxies for mobile devices: InviZible Pro, should be runned in VPN mode [for desktop just install the Tor daemon for your distribution]
Get out of the Matrix (literally), be free from companies and bullshit.
From a cypherpunk.
P.S. calls on this instance are disabled for security reasons and because the server is still not capable enough. Might consider to turn them on in the future.
I’ve been looking to go back and see if any people actually use xmpp, this seems most opportune. What were the true cyberpunks using before this, though?
Hope to see you on the agora and marketplace soon
As a female, i would never start using something called monerobros. Good luck with that tho
What a dumb reason to not want to join something. You take things too literally and too seriously.
It’s like getting offended and not wanting to join monero town because you live in a city. Who cares - it’s just a name get over it.
Sorry for not being politically correct or female friendly. This is the real world, deal with it. If you want to donate me the money to get monerogirls.club I will be very happy to connect it to the running server.
This was very fun to read and had a good laugh, lol
No point in saying sorry, then being rude. You want to talk about the real world, but then your write like that… that made me laugh.
Your title reads; ‘dedicated to monero lovers and cypherpunks!’. You should rather write ‘dedicated to male monero lovers and male cypherpunks!’ as it would be more accurate. Don’t make yourself a liar. Idc what ‘service’ you create or what you call it. I was giving you some insight, which you clearly lacked
